WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senate Majority Chief Mitch McConnell fell at his residence in Kentucky on Sunday and fractured his shoulder, a spokesman stated.
“This morning, Chief McConnell tripped at residence on his outdoors patio and suffered a fractured shoulder. He has been handled, launched, and is working from residence in Louisville,” McConnell spokesman David Popp stated in a press release.
McConnell, a 77-year-old Republican, was injured as Democrats had been urging him to name an emergency session of the Senate to debate gun management laws within the wake of two shootings that killed 29 individuals in Texas and Ohio over the weekend.
Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated the Senate ought to cease its “outrageous obstruction” and cross laws to develop background checks on gun purchases that the Home authorised earlier this 12 months.
McConnell referred to as the weekend shootings “horrible” on Twitter, however he has not responded to the requires him to convey the Senate again to Washington from its August recess.
