WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley on Tuesday urged Democrats to not use impeachment proceedings in opposition to President Donald Trump to delay motion on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) commerce settlement.
Grassley criticized Democrats for launching an impeachment inquiry over experiences that Trump sought international assist to smear a political rival, since he had pledged to launch a transcript of his cellphone name with the Ukrainian president.
“If Democrats use impeachment proceedings as a foundation to not act on coverage that may straight profit People just like the USMCA or decreasing prescription drug costs, that might show they’re extra serious about politics and opposing the president in any respect prices than serving the American individuals,” Grassley stated in a press release.
