ATHENS (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo known as the Ukraine inquiry a ‘foolish gotcha recreation’ on Saturday.
“That is what’s flawed when the world doesn’t concentrate on the issues which can be proper, the issues that matter, the issues that influence actual folks’s lives and as an alternative you get caught up in some foolish gotcha recreation.”
“You see, that’s not useful, that doesn’t assist democracies flourish,” stated Pompeo, who’s visiting Greece on the ultimate leg of a tour of nations in southern Europe.
His response got here when he was requested on the finish of a speech whether or not there have been any ‘purple flags’ which required additional investigation in a name between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in July.
“I don’t assume anyone right here is especially interested by that…I believe they wish to know in regards to the relationship between America and Greece.”
The July name is now the topic of a congressional investigation.
