STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – The chief government of the Swedish agency that owns the Stena Impero, the British-flagged tanker detained by Tehran on July 19, mentioned on Sunday he had been knowledgeable that the vessel could also be launched inside just a few hours.
The Stena Impero was detained by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards within the Strait of Hormuz waterway for alleged marine violations, two weeks after Britain detained an Iranian tanker off the territory of Gibraltar. That vessel was launched in August.
Erik Hanell, chief government of Stena Bulk, instructed the Swedish public broadcaster SVT: “We’ve got obtained data now this morning that it looks as if they’ll launch the ship Stena Impero inside just a few hours. So we perceive that the political determination to launch the ship has been taken.”
