18 colliers dead as Quetta coalmine caves in
QUETTA: 16 miners have been killed and 9 others have been wounded Saturday when a coal mine collapsed because of a fuel explosion close to Quetta, officers stated.
The coincidence came about in Marwaarh, 45 kilometres east of Quetta, which is the capital of oil and gas-rich Balochistan province.
“The roof caved in following an explosion prompted by means of the buildup of methane fuel, killing 16 miners and wounding 9 others, two of them significantly”, Jawaid Shahwani, commissioner of Quetta Department stated.
Shahwani stated 25 employees have been within the mine when the explosion came about, including that all of the injured miners were rescued and brought to the health center.
“We try our perfect to get better our bodies however it’ll take time as lots of the our bodies are buried very deep”, he stated.
A minimum of 43 employees have been killed in March 2011 when explosions prompted a cave in in a coal mine in Balochistan.
